Club Membership
Are you interesting in joining the Narragansett Lions Club?
If your answer is YES, please keep reading.
Sponsored Membership
First, you need sponsors. Sponsors are established Narragansett Lions Sponsors are established Narragansett Lions, meaning they are members in good standing who have been with the club for 5 years or more. They will stand by you through your first 1-2 years of membership (attend meetings with you, introduce you to other members, show you the ropes, etc.). You will need 2 sponsors in order to join.
As a member, there are commitments we expect you to meet each year:
- Attend at least 3 Board Meetings.
- There are 11 Board Meetings per year.
- Location: Narragansett Community Center
- Attend at least 4 Dinner Meetings.
- There are 9 Dinner Meetings per year.
- Location: Various Restaurants in the Narragansett and Wakefield area.
- Volunteer during the course of the Blessing of the Fleet Celebration.
- Complete at least 1 shift during our Christmas Tree Sale.
- Serve at a minimum of 3 Narragansett Lions Club hosted events.
- The Blessing of the Fleet Celebration and Christmas Tree Sale events count toward this goal, but we would love to see you at every event you can find time for.
Keep in mind that, with a couple of exceptions, you have an ENTIRE YEAR to meet these commitments.
Are you ready to join?
If you have been invited to join the club, and you have 2 sponsors, then you are ready to move to the next step.
- First, complete and submit the Membership Entry Form.
- After you submit the online form, you will receive an email confirmation of your submittal.
- Next, you will need to attend a New Member Meeting
- The New Member Meeting is held on the last Thursday of the month (check our Calendar for Location), but it is important to take note that it is not held every month.
- Visit our Community Calendar to find and confirm dates.
- Coordinate attendance with your sponsors, as they must also attend this meeting.
- At this meeting, you will meet the Membership Committee. They will:
- Teach you about Lions Clubs International (LCI) – general information and history.
- Teach you about Narragansett Lions Club (NLC) – general information and history.
- Provide to you the Membership Application Form, which must be completed and submitted before you attend your first Dinner Meeting.
- The New Member Meeting is held on the last Thursday of the month (check our Calendar for Location), but it is important to take note that it is not held every month.
- Attend your first Dinner Meeting and be inducted into the club!
The Narragansett Lions Club is growing and getting younger. We inducted 30 new members in May and June. This new generation of Narra Lions will allow us to continue to serve our community for years to come. Look for these new faces working hard at the Blessing!
